Christmas Fayre 2015

Friday 11 December 2015

A damp night didn’t deter the many local families who came out and enjoyed our annual Christmas community event. There was plenty to entertain adults and children alike in a relaxed and informal party atmosphere. Food and drink, games and gifts, tombola and raffles were all on offer at the stalls in the side aisles. Father Christmas took time out of his busy schedule to make a flying visit to see the children, and ‘Mr Bubbles’ the balloon modeller was kept busy making bespoke balloons, with many of the children having great fun seeing how high their balloons would float above the warm air vents at the front of the nave.

Throughout the evening seasonal music was provided by Moulton 77 Brass Band, and St Matthew’s Church Choir, wearing a variety of Christmas jumpers, sang Christmas carols and led the community carol singing towards the end of the evening. A Christmas reading, a prayer and the Blessing ended the proceedings.

Although one of our major fundraising events, the Fayre is also an opportunity for us at St Matthew’s to welcome in, and enjoy the company of, the wider Kingsley community, many of whom would not ordinarily come into St Matthew’s Church; this event enables them an opportunity to make that first step through our door.
