Three
years of religious training finally paid off for Andrew
Ward on Wednesday 17 July 2019 as he was licensed and
admitted as a Diocesan Reader.
Nearly 70 friends and family gathered at St Matthew’s
Church, Northampton for a special mass conducted by The
Rt Revd Donald Allister, Bishop of Peterborough.
Bishop Donald, assisted by St Matthew’s vicar, The Revd
Canon Nicholas Setterfield, presented Andrew with his
licensing certificate, a ceremonial blue scarf and a
personal bible.
Andrew’s wife Caroline read from the book of Exodus
during the 45 minute service.
Bishop Donald noted how ironic it was that no sooner had
Andrew gained his licence than he and Caroline were
moving from St Matthew’s to pastures new. The Lord does
indeed move in mysterious ways!
Fr Nicholas said a special thank you to St Matthew’s
catering team who laid on a sumptuous lunch for everyone
in the parish centre.
The Director of Music, Thomas Moore, is
looking to recruit BOYS from school year 4
to 7 and GIRLS from school year 5 upwards
who are keen to sing and eager to learn.
