Information & Visiting - Facilities for Hire

St Matthew's Parish Centre

These are excellent premises, opened in 1968, owned and used by St Matthew's Church. We offer well-heated rooms with tables and chairs. There is a fully-equipped kitchen. A programme of modernisation is in hand. A toilet for the disabled and baby changing facilities are available.

Our premises are suitable for a variety of purposes during the day and evening, including such activities as yoga, dance, society meetings and lectures. Arrangements can be made for social events and parties (but not discos). The grassed area may also be used for outside events. Please come and look at our building and you will receive a warm welcome.

Easy access for the disabled and attractive location in the town with limited car parking on the premises and good parking in adjacent streets. External areas are well lit at night. Please contact the Parish Office for further information.

Additional Information

Price includes the use of the kitchen, which is to be shared if there are groups using both rooms. Rooms are available for 15 minutes either side of your paid booking times for setting up and clearing away, if more time is required, this should be booked.

All users must leave the rooms clean and tidy i.e. close any windows which have been opened, turn off any radiators/blowers that are on, put away tables and chairs that have been used, and take away all rubbish, finally check toilets and turn off all lights before leaving.

Please note that limited car parking is available at the Parish Centre for use by visitors. In view of this, we ask you to ensure that those attending your activities are made aware of the pressure on spaces, and that they may need to consider parking elsewhere. In particular, we ask you to ensure that those attending your activities respect the spaces reserved for other use. There are two reserved parking spaces. These are in continual use both during the week and at weekends. The parking spaces designated for disabled users are intended first of all for badge holders.

The fire doors must be kept clear at all times so that people are able to exit the Parish Centre in an emergency. Additionally, please do not park on the yellow lines or block other cars in.
